How to combine work & sports

How to combine work & sports

What do you do for a living?

I work fulltime in the property industry as a sales consultant. My usual work times are from 10 to 17. This gives me the opportunity to start training before work.

How often do you work out to maintain your physique?

In the mornings I get up at 6 am to start my morning cardio in my home gym. I do about 40 minutes cardio and 20 minutes core exercise. I would say I am a morning person. Sleep is important and I try to get 7 hours of sleep every day but, having a 4 year old daughter can make it challenging. After work I train again in the gym. One hour of weight training and 15 minutes of stretching.

What do you do to keep going and keep your energy up?

It is really important to eat healthy and keep hydrated. What I do when I have time off from work are power naps. Also in the weekends I make sure I sleep as often as I can.

This must be stressful for your family and social life?

Yes it is, when preparing for a competition I do not socialize much. My social life is in the gym. But my wife and family understand it is only for about 12 weeks in prep where it becomes the hardest. That said, I make sure I have enough quality time with my wife. Once a week I will take her out to dinner or go to, for instance, the Spa.

Do you ever have a social life/other hobbies?

When I am not competing, I try to hang out with friends in the pub or go clubbing now and then. Besides Bodybuilding I also produce music. The latest track I have been working on is called “Train, Eat, Dance, Repeat“. In the near future I will be competing in Rome Italy,  Alicante Spain and Portugal. Hopefully I can combine this with filming on these locations for my music video.

What is your tip to combine work and sports?

Training is a passion and my number one hobby. It is key to stay lean in your eating and training. But my number one priority is to provide for my family and keep a roof over our heads.
